Open Source is a revolutionary idea in today's world, in which software and applications are provided along with their source code and is free of cost. The former provides the advantage of modifying or rebuilding the source code so as to create or model the software in such a way that it suits the user's needs or is better than the previous versions of the software. 'Nobody's perfect', Open source follows this ideal and allows people other than the original programmers to think and improve upon the concepts on which the software think and improve upon the concepts on which the software was originally built. The latter helps in providing technology to all transcending social, economical and political barriers. In a nutshell , Open Source is an initiative that aims to provide free and modifiable technology to all, thus helping in spreading the technology and allowing the software to evolve to a better level using the ideas and changes provided by the people using it.
Taking this initiative forward, this year's objective is to spread more and more knowledge about this radical concept among the major changers of the modern world- the Youth.
It will include a multitude of events and seminars with topics with technical as well as non-technical background. Each session is expected to be of one hour duration.
Schedule of the conclave is available here
We wish a positive and delirious participation from your side, so that together we can make this year's event a “never before seen extravaganza”!!
About USIT IEEE
The seeds of USIT IEEE student branch were sown in year 2002 under the mentorship of our then Dean, Prof Yogesh Singh (now VC, MSU) and our Branch Mentor Dr. Udayan Ghose, whose able guidance and motivation were instrumental in laying a strong foundation. Currently, USIT IEEE is in safe hands of our Branch Councellor Prof Navin Rajpal, Dean, USIT. Our vision is to take USIT IEEE to the zenith of success and achieve the aim of expanding the pool of technical knowledge.
Publications: TechVeda (Bi-annual Newsletter of our Student Branch), Institute (Quarterly Magazine by IEEE HQ) and Spectrum (Monthly Magazine by IEEE HQ) attract the literary side of the students and act as a source for the imaginative, creative and informative articles and reports. These publications are also a rich source of rare technical know how.
USIT IEEE takes pride in organizing a plethora of technical and literary events giving a great opportunity to the students to dwell in the form of a participant or a volunteer and establish a healthy communication with the students and faculty members of other colleges.
With knowledge sharing and implementation as its pillars, The USIT IEEE STUDENT BRANCH would continue to win accolades and achieve great heights for years to come.
